Update!

Hey all.

Just a quick update.  I’m back in the land of blustery showers - yes England!  Landed a week or so ago and since then crewed a Breakthrough to Success Seminar (always fabulous!), been offered part time work, met up with my musician friend for coffee and written reams on my book!

Will write more soon.

Hannah Update!

Have returned from the joys of magazine work in Almeria back to the sleepy mountain town in the province of Malaga.  And it really is sleepy at the moment!  It seems like half my friends have already left or are in the process of leaving.  Was it something I said?!

Apart from that, all is well.  Especially on the writing front.  Am still awaiting my critique to be returned from the Hilary Johnon Author’s Advisory agency, quite excitedly now.  The last Christopher Howard seminar has left me in a state of extreme motivation so can’t wait to see the critique and start making the changes needed on my book.  Am hoping I will see all advice as constructive and not go all wussy and take it to heart….

I used to be like that.  My most famous example is sending off a short script to Eastenders, I must have been about 22 at the time, and they wrote me back a lovely letter explaining that although they really liked my writing I probably wasn’t right for the show, at least not on this writing example, but could I send something else through?

Uh?  I didn’t have anything else!  I’d poured my heart into this one script to make it perfect!  And they didn’t like this?!  I shoved the letter into a drawer and kept it there for years.  (Am not joking - it really was years before I read it again.)  The reason being was because when I read the letter all I could see was the No.  We do not want you.  This script is not good enough for us.  Only years later when I worked as a reader in a literary agency, and my job was to write the rejection letters did I realise how much of an invitation mine had been.  You don’t flatter unless you want to receive.

Luckily, opportunies always come round again.  And i will snap the next one up!

London Book Launch

Filed under: Breakthrough to Success, Seminars, Workshops, Courses — hannah @ 11:24 pm

Hola!  just back from an amazing weekend in London.  Of course the one weekend where I leave the country, Spain do go and win the footie.  Well done.  Heard it was manic.  Flew back in this arvo to lots of excited people at the airport fluttering flags and talking even louder than usual.

Anyway, I digress.  Just back from an amazing weekend in London!  I crewed a BTS for the Christopher Howard Events - something about those weekends I adore.  There I am in a room of about 700 people watching them lose their inhibitions and start to believe in themselves again.  It’s really quite moving.  I know that personal development isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I finally got it this weekend.  Yeah, sure the events coordinators use the weekend to sell their products, but as this is a free weekend, that’s kinda ok don’t you think?  And the point is, that these courses and products do work.  I saw it on the participants faces all weekend - they broke through some of their limiting beliefs and learnt to believe in themselves again.  And if just one person in that room goes on a Christopher Howard course or buys his book, and it manages to transform their world (and most probably the world beyond theirs) then that’s a pretty cool thing.

I also fell in love with London again.  Seriously.  Joyfully.  So much so my bezza is twisting my arm to move back.  We went out Sat night to a party round the corner from her place in Peckham, and for the first time in years I went to a party where I DIDN’T know every single person in the room!  And so we found a random stranger, a man, and spent the evening doing what we do best.  Taking the piss out of him.  Well, he deserved it - he’d brought a bottle of wine to the party (as we do) but actually put it in the fridge and marked it as his own - to prevent others from taking it.

‘C’mon!’ We exclaimed.  ‘It’s a party!’

He deserved our vitriol, took it in good grace and it caused us much fun.

London equals parties and strangers and abundance and choice.  It means a cup of chai at Victoria station, an empty double decker bus cruising the streets at 4.30am, a toasted bagel, a beer garden with wooden benches, an oyster card, cinema in English, bookstores where I can spend a whole day, book launches too.  My bezza went to her first one last week, not her own, but a hot new writer who spent about 7 years writing her first book and had a blog similar to this one.   She also used the Hilary Johnson Author’s Advisory Service and then one day her book got sold to Harper Collins.  Cue massive launch and one very excited chica.  And a blog which suddenly read - diary of a published author.

‘I thought of you!’ said my bezza.  ‘She was just soooooo excited.’

I’m now powered up to get my own book launch. It’s like everything is clicking into place right now and making it happen.  How cool.

Breakthrough Coaching

Yesterday I had my first coaching session. It’s called Breakthrough to Success coaching and I signed up for it at the Breakthrough to Success seminar I went on a couple of weeks back. I knew if I had walked out of that seminar without signing up for coaching I would have, quite successfully, talked myself out of it. But the question - When would NOW be the right time to start? - reverberated around my head and I knew I had to sign up for 12 months coaching. It was an act of instinct, of knowingness that if I wanted to turn my life around, and I do, I needed to take action and commit to it.

So I signed the form, paid quite a lot of money (for me), and walked out of that hall knowing I had made one of the most important decisions in my life. To start investing in me. I believe that all successful change, be it in relationships, finances, career, even health, happens when we allow it to. It happens from the inside out. As I have said before on this blog, clear the inner obstacles, the limiting belief choices, the blocking emotions, and you go a long way to achieving your goals.

I found the weekend seminar hugely helpful, but I knew I hadn’t got rid of all my shit in one 3 day course. I knew that to fully commit to my vision of publishing my book and it becoming a bestseller, I had to go deeper. What is it that sometimes holds me back in my life? What fears do I have around success? What limiting decisions have I made along the way that can now be dropped?

Coaching allows you to confront all of this and gives you permission to become the biggest, brightest version of yourself. To move from where you are now to where you want to be. To step into your authentic self.

I’m dead excited by the prospect of the next 12 months and all the change I will make. Change comes from the inside first. Change my inner workings and I’ll see the outside manifestation of it. I’ll keep you posted!

My goal is clear and loud, and here’s how they teach you to phrase it: It is now (insert date) and I am/I have (insert goal and be as specific as possible!) So, for example, It is now Oct 2008 and I am standing in my kitchen talking on my mobile to my agent and he’s just told me that the Spanish territory rights to my novel have been sold!

Try a few for yourself. Have fun with them. And don’t just believe them, expect them.

If you are interested in the Breakthrough to Success weekend, and they take place in London, Australia and the US - then click on this link and book your free ticket NOW. Ask yourself, is now the right time to start?
