Update on Clients & Tricky First Chapters….

Julie - am impressed by this gal.  Further to feedback re her first chapter; that it was slow-moving, not immediate enough, a bit dull, she has spent so much time reworking it that it now looks pretty damn good!  Proves that hard work, the will to succeed, and the willingness to listen to criticism are key ingredients.  Will let you know when she gets her deal…. Larry - went to an Arvon course, loved meeting other writers, has re-worked his first chapter and is now off on some fancy cruise to Brazil.  Lucky him.   Me - sat and stared at first chapter for number of months.  Rewrote it in 3rd person.  Changed it back again. Decided to delete almost half of book because there was a fusion of genres that didn’t quite gel.  Decided not to do that.  Back to square one. But the aim for all three of us is the same.  Do what we can to get our books published.    My best friend advised me on the most basic of principles today.  Get back into the habit of writing.   Which was subtext for get off your arse and get writing gal.  Good advice.

Write Here, Right Now

Wow,  long time, no write.  How very slack of me!!!  Am feeling utterly ashamed of my lack of commitment.  No excuses except a tangled love liaison, a relocation to a different part of Spain, a new business venture, and all that jazz.  But I’m back and I’m determined to at least record something once a week on this fab blog of mine.  Set up last year as a resource directory for budding writers, and for anyone who might be the teeeeeeniest bit interested in following the journey of very own novel as it meanders its way from source to publication.  Meander being the operative word….. This site and the adjoined webpage is about to undergo some serious transformation.  So watch this space….  But before that, here’s news of an online writing venture from BBC Scotland, intended to help crime writers keep a daily target of 1000 words a day for 30 days.  Sounds tough?  Well, it’s meant to be.  Take a look.http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland/programmes/writehererightnow/
