Publishing Deal

Filed under: Book Doctor, My first novel - The Voices of Angels — hannah @ 9:31 am

Just a quickie, cos leaving house in a mo, but Robin ‘Sperm Wars’ , with whom I shared a dinner with one balmy summer’s evening last year, has finally got his publishing deal!  In his own words, this is how he puts it:

Hi Hannah

Just thought you’d like to know that after ten years in the writing, including seven major re-writes and countless smaller ones, five years of rejections including eight further for the most recent version since February, NAKED (still the title though I’m warned it could change) at last has a publisher. An offer has come in from Virgin Books, now a sub-division of Random House, though my agent (Laura) is still waiting for replies from two further publishers in the hope they’ll offer more money (because the advance being offered by Virgin is a pittance).

As you can imagine, after all the effort and all the put-downs, I’m over the moon. A novelist at last! I’d like to think that you have got there, too, and have experienced the same feeling. If not, I hope it’s just round the corner. Don’t give up!

Yay.  Most inspiring.

Redirected?

Filed under: My first novel - The Voices of Angels — hannah @ 6:58 pm

Hi, you’ve either found my secret blog (not so secret now!) or been re-directed from my webpage.  In any case, a warm welcome!  I’m currently in the process of re-designing the website and from now on this blog shall form the ‘homepage’.  Nestled within the pages of this blog you will find details of my writing courses, my infamous book doctor service, and the latest progress report on my novel.  Also included are handy links to various writing websites, including competitions, other blogs, courses etc etc etc.  The aim is to make this a useful service for you!

I’ve been most busy this 2008 running an ex-pat magazine near Almeria, Spain.  So, the book’s been a little on the backburner, but I’ve been having lots of fun writing some editorial and getting into the nitty-gritty of sales.  Writing can be a lonely lark, so hanging out with folk suits me down to the ground.

I shall write more at the weekend and provide lots of updates and a link to critique service (other than mine.)  Until then…..
